Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 30
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 30
トニカクカワイイ 30
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
Even though Tsukasa has no interest in old buildings and such, she decides that by adding Nasa to the equation, boring old shrines will become fun. Nasa worries she’s forcing herself, but when she mentions that they haven’t been on a date yet, so Nasa is won over.
At the Nara Buddha, Tsukasa wonders if in 1000 years, folks will praise the Odaiba Gundam. She has Nasa make a pose at the statue to take a picture of. She then has them go to the Houryuuji. There, Nasa is surprised about her historical knowledge. Nasa wants them to take snuggle selfies. They get someone to take a shot of them, where at the last second, Tsukasa lovingly clings to Nasa.
Nasa wants to go to the ruins of Heijoukyo. Tsukasa tells him there’s nothing at the site. She’s proven right when they get there. She speaks wistfully of how Heijoukyo was dismantled and the materials sent to Kyoto. Now, she wants to take a funny video of Nasa. As she’s recording, she stops Nasa’s ramblings to warn him he’s just set a death flag.
After leaving Nara that night, they return to their apartment, only to find it has been burned down.
Thoughts/Review:
Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 30 continues the narrative of Tsukasa’s immortality. It also has some interesting Hayate the Combat Butler cameos as well.
Tsukasa Logic and the Date With Nasa
I was amused at Tsukasa’s plan to turn a boring sightseeing trip around Nara into something interesting, just by being with Nasa. I couldn’t help but remember a former girlfriend I had with whom I attempted this strategy. I hate shopping, but she loved it. And while I didn’t mind seeing her showing off swimsuits, sundresses, or the like, at the end of the day, the mind-numbing tediousness of shopping overcame all other considerations. ?
Still, Tsukasa was a trooper here, even catering to Nasa’s desire to have a photo taken with her with the two snuggled up close.
Tsukasa’s Immortality Clues
Again, Hata-sensei teases us with the notion of Tsukasa being immortal. We already know that she’s not interested in historical things, probably because she already lived through them.
Tsukasa’s remarks on Houryuuji are mild, but do seem to indicate that she could have actually been there when it originally burned down. In addition, she spoke of Prince Shotoku as if she knew him.
However, it was her reflective comments on Heijoukyo that seemed most indicative that she’d been there. Not only did she know that there was nothing at the site of the “ruins,” she also knew exactly what happened to the old city. Further, she was pretty wistful when she spoke of how a city of hundreds of thousands of people were living their lives 1300 years ago.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
Man, I’m so far behind, it isn’t even funny. So I better wrap the review of Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 30 up.
- Tsukasa’s remarks on people possibly praising the Odaiba Gundam in 1000 years made me chuckle.
- There were three cameos from Hayate the Combat Butler. First was Sakuya, who took Nasa’s and Tsukasa’s photo in Nara. Second was Nasa and Tsukasa’s landlord, Wataru. And of course, Saki was with Wataru.
- Hata-sensei certainly flagged the destruction of Nasa’s and Tsukasa’s apartment. I didn’t expect him to actually burn it down.
- Speaking of flags, Hata-sensei had a bit of fun with the readers by teasing the “Death Flag” being set. That’s because so many people are expecting something bad to happen in the story since Tsukasa seems to be either Kaguya-hime, or someone similar to that moon princess.
In the end, Tonikaku Cawaii chapter 30 was an enjoyable chapter.
